Tyra Lynne Banks was born on December 4th 1973 in Inglewood, California and now 2007 she is 33 years old. She started her career when she was in 1992. She is a daytime T.V producer, author, actress, singer, executive producer, talk show host, and retired supermodel. She was one of the origanal Victoria’s Secret Angel’s.
She was on the cover of Cover Girl, Swatch, Pepsi, Nike, Inc., XOXO, LensCrafters, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria's Secret, Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gabbana, Yves Saint-Laurent, Chanel, Escada, Anna Sui, Michael Kors, Liz Claiborne, Isaac Mizrahi, and Richard Tyler (designer). But Tyra has also been international and on many international magazines incliding including Seventeen, Vogue, ELLE, Amica, ELLEgirl, L'Officiel, Harper's Bazaar, Photo, Cosmopolitan, Essence, and Sports Illustrated.
Tyra is well known for her spot on America’s Next Top Model as a judge/hostess, since 2003 the debut of the show on UPN that later became the CW. ( You can visit America's Next Top Model to find out more.) She is now a daytime talk show host on The Tyra Show. Time magazine named her one of the 100 influential people in 2006.
Tyra was a very popular model back in the 1990s and she still is. She is the first African-American model to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated. She wasn’t just a model she also acted. She stared on Higher Learning, and in the Disney movie “Life Size” and co-stared in Coyote Ugly, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Felicity. In 1997 she wrote a book called “Tyra Beauty Inside And Out”.
Tyra began her modeling career in Europe and evolved from ordinary to extraordinary. Since she started her career so early she is now know as one of the pioneers in the industry. The same year that she wrote that book she received the prestigious Michael Award for Supermodel of the Year.
